GRAND MAJESTIC SICHUAN

restaurant newly opened in 2022

In typical Black Sheep fashion, Grand Majestic Sichuan is a restaurant that provides all the usual theatre with a thoroughly thought-out theme, serving us 1970’s heady glamour and nostalgic Sichuan classics. From the handsome waiters (in impeccably tailored suits) to the disco music in the bathrooms and boudoir interiors, this latest opening is simply seductive. The tongue-in-cheek interior designed by Melissa Collison is suitably over the top in pinks, reds, velvets, and lashings of gold, with a sultry rosy glow throughout. Order the dan dan mian for a table-side show, and make sure to ask the mixologist to create you something special.

You forget you’re in Hong Kong when you enter Associazione Chianti, eating by candlelight on cozy wooden tables, you could be an extra in a scene from The God Father. A great casual date destination with some of the best steak in town, I’ve also dreamt about the tartare served in this restaurant on a weekly basis!

Well known for being one of the most stylish restaurants in Hong Kong, Arbor’s interiors were dreamt up by world-renowned design firm Yabu Pushelberg. In their own words (because I couldn’t begin to describe it so beautifully) Arbor was imagined as ‘the charming forest home of a poet and a cook. A loving couple who welcome traveler’s and friends for a fine meal to escape the grind of city life in an enchanting space that soothes the soul’. It truly is a bohemian haven, albeit an extremely high end one… The Nordic-Japanese menu by Chef Eric Raty is inspired by nature, only using the finest seasonal ingredients and is a celebration of the luxury of simplicity. This is a must-visit for a design lover, every corner is thought out and every minute is an experience.
